This book rocks!  This book has great info on workouts for high school kids that want to run their best and learn from former top runners that ran sub 4:11 for the mile. It's organized well and offers insightful conclusions. I coach high school distance runners in Oregon and this book is a great read to give me ideas for my workouts. I scale back the reps for all but a few of my athletes - we run the 800/1500/3000 in Oregon for high school distance runners but I'd prefer it if we ran the Mile & 2 Mile! It doesn't matter what state you live in to gain benefits from reading this book

Chuck Bridgman's book Ohio High School State Mile Champions is a great book. When I was a Junior in high school I finished up my cross country season coming in fourth which was not the finish that I wanted, having said that my dad came across this book and we started reading it. I found this book intriguing because it offered hard facts of how an individual could train to be a state champion. I decided to give it a try, one of the things that I found most helpful in the book was timing all your runs. I use to always run for an hour but instead of just going out for a run I mapped my runs out and told myself I had to hit certain paces. After about a month or so I saw an improvement in my running and decided to keep using the book as a tool to help my running. With all this said Chuck Bridgman's book honestly is a great tool for any runner who is looking for something to help improve their training. The charts in the book are excellent, they map out exactly what each runner did during their season to get them to a state title, not only does he do this but he then provides a calendar with day to day training that he recommends doing to helping you get to where you want to. This calendar doesn't have to be followed exactly it can be changed a little here and there to suit your needs but its an excellent tool to refer to. I can say that after reading Chuck Bridgman's book it not only has changed my running but it helped me obtain a state title like I always wanted, which is why I would recommend this book to everyone who wants to improve their running or become a state champion.

Great book. I highly recommend it especially to you high school and college kids who want to run sub 4:10 for the mile. Great training plans from Kennedy, Zishka, Jeff See, and other names you'll recognize. Dig into it and put your own plan into place. You can probably run faster than you think if you follow the right training and plan. The author, Chuck Bridgman, is an old high school competitor of mine, a long-time high school coach and has researched his information extremely well.

I was asked to speak at the Ohio Track Coaches Clinic and I thought this book would be a great reference about track in Ohio. I am a coach in Michigan and read a lot of track books to help me stay competitive. My book came in the mail on Monday afternoon and I could not put it down until I finished it Monday evening. No matter which training method you prescribe to, this is a powerful tool for anyone interested in coaching track and field. This is a unique opportunity to get into the psyche of so many great athletes all at once. This book compares, contrasts and draws trends from the data in a way that is easy to use for any level coach. In the few days I have had it I have shared this information with several of my athletes and they are just as excited as I am.
